Drug dealers threw $1M from plane
October 5 , 2013
Alleged drug dealers in Bolivia got into trouble after tossing over $1M from a low-flying plane.
The police arrested three nationals on the ground after witnessing the whole incident; they also grabbed the bag full of U.S. currency. Interior Minister Carlos Romero mentioned that the money would have facilitated a new illegal business in money-laundering or cocaine production.
He also referred to the seizure as being a "major blow" to drug dealers in the country, which is still one of the top three producers of cocaine in the world; the other two being Colombia and Peru.
Although drug gangs in Bolivia are exploiting a growing Brazilian market, it has drawn attention: Police recently seized 690 pounds of cocaine that was being sent to Brazil in a plane.
