Dozens of opposition activists released by Cuba

  • Cuba has released more than 35 opposition activists in the last few days, reports say.

The freed activists are thought to be from among the list of 53 people which the US had requested to be released in continuing efforts from both sides to mend ties.

The White House said the United States was pleased with the development.

Around 30 activists who have been released are members of the Patriotic Union of Cuba, a dissident group.
