Dozens missing in Indonesia landslide

  • More than ten people have died and at least 100 are missing in a landslide in Java in Indonesia that destroyed hundreds of homes.

The landslide, caused by heavy rain, occurred close to central Java’s Jemblung village.

Rescue work was affected by unavailability of heavy equipment, reports said. Around 40 people have been hospitalized.

The country’s disaster agency, which is trying to clear the roads in the affected area, said the conditions on the ground were “pretty tough”.
