Donald Trump Claims he saved Hong Kong from Obliteration by the Chinese Forces

  • US President Donald Trump has claimed during a Friday morning interview that he had saved Hong Kong from being obliterated by the Chinese military in just 14 minutes. Trump reportedly told Chinese President Xi Jinping that sending soldiers into Hong Kong would create a tremendous negative impact on the US-China trade deal. He told Jinping “Please don’t do that”. During the interview, Trump also indicated that he could veto bipartisan legislation, which intends supporting Hong Kong’s pro-democracy protests. The US President made it clear that despite being in support of standing with Hong Kong and the freedom of its people, he can’t do anything that jeopardizes the prospect of making the largest trade deals in the US history. The week-long protests in the Hong Kong University campus have started to fizzle out on Saturday as the city shifts its focus to local elections.
