Dog rescued from "Big Hole"

  • There's some good news today: A pooch, nicknamed "Underdog," was saved in a big rescue operation after he got stuck in one of the biggest manholes in the world.

He was spotted swimming at the bottom of a South African crater last week, having somehow survived the big fall to the bottom of the mine.

The lucky dog got to a ledge and was stranded at the spot for eight days after it was found out that the ropes of emergency workers weren't long enough. Passers-by were kind to throw down food and help keep him alive.

Reports suggest that seven people made their way down and rescued the dog yesterday; workers said he was found in good shape, considering the circumstances.
