Dilma Rousseff re-elected Brazil's president
October 27 , 2014
Fighting off a strong challenge from the pro-business Aécio Neves, Brazil’s President Dilma Rousseff has been re-elected in one of the closest elections in the country’s history on a mandate that is much reduced, media reports say.
Rousseff, whose Workers party has pledged to continue fighting inequality, won 51.6% of the votes.
In her victory speech she said she hoped to “create the conditions to unite” Brazilians, telling supporters that she wanted to be “a much better president” this time around.
