Detained US citizen is freed by North Korea
October 22 , 2014
North Korea has released US citizen Jeffrey Fowle who was detained in the Asian country, media reports say.
Confirming the release of the 56-year-old, a State Department spokesperson said the US was also trying to get two other detained Americans, Kenneth Bae and Matthew Miller, released.
Fowle had gone to North Korea in April; he was detained when he was leaving North Korea, for "anti-state" crimes. He had reportedly left a Bible in a restaurant in Chongjin city.
