Derailed Train in Northern Greece Hits House, Kills Four

  • A passenger train in northern Greece’s Adendro village reportedly got derailed and went on to hit a house.

A statement issued by the state railways early today said that four passengers have died and five (including the driver) are seriously injured.

The mishap happened Saturday night while the train in the Athens-Thessaloniki route was travelling with 70 passengers on board.

Reports say that the derailed train hit a three-storey house which has a storage space at the ground floor and two tenants at the other floors.

Engine of the train went through the house and the same is now leaning on the train.

Two dozen fire trucks, ambulances, and emergency workers are doing the rescue work. The crash site has been sealed by the police. Sniffer dogs have been reportedly brought on scene.
