Denmark polls: Ruling coalition in close contest with opposition

  • Denmark is going to the polls in a closely fought contest between prime minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt’s center-left coalition and former prime minister Lars Lokke Rasmussen’s center-right opposition.

Opinion polls show that the two sides are running neck and neck.

Some experts believe that the ruling Social Democrat party may benefit from a turnaround in the Danish economy in recent weeks.

Besides the economy, immigration and welfare are top on the minds of voters.
