'Death with dignity' advocate Brittany Maynard dies

  • Brittany Maynard, the young US woman with brain cancer, who became a ‘death with dignity’ advocate, has died in Oregon after reportedly taking medication that ended her life, according to media reports.

The 29-year-old chose “to make a well thought out and informed choice,” according to a post on her website.

Compassion & Choices, an advocacy group for end-of-life choices, said Maynard died “as she intended.” It said her death was peaceful and “in the arms of her loved ones.”
