Death toll in Egypt passes 500

  • Egypt is experiencing even more more bloodshed and violence today. The death toll has risen to 525 as hundreds of people march in Alexandria. The injury count is about 3,700.

These figures, however, take into account only those victims that have gone to the hospitals. The Muslim Brotherhood insists that close to 2,000 people have died in the region since yesterday.

Foreign journalist Jonathan Rugman tweeted saying, "so many dead protestors in the mosque I am visiting in Cairo that my feet are we with disinfectant and blood."

The detention of Mohamed Morsi has been extended by another 30 days.
