Deal between Russia and Syrian Rebels Allow Critically Injured to be Taken out of Douma

  • Reports say an agreement has been reached among Russia, civic leaders of Syria, and rebel group Jaish al-Islam that will ensure evacuation of critically injured people from the last rebel-held Syrian town in Eastern Ghouta region. The Syrian rebels have denied any evacuation deal in the city but said an agreement has been reached with Russian military that the wounded will be allowed to leave. Reports also say the rebels hope the negotiation will provide them the right to remain in Douma city under protection from Russia. Syrian army has asked rebels either to leave Douma or face the army’s full scale offensive.
