Cyprus allows Russian navy to use ports
February 26 , 2015
Cyprus will give ships of the Russian navy access to its ports, as per a new agreement signed between the two countries.
Russia’s president Vladimir Putin gave his nod to the agreement after talks with Nicos Anastasiades, the Cypriot president, in Moscow.
Putin said the port would be mainly used for anti-piracy and counter-terrorism purposes.
The Russian president emphasized that the deal was not “aimed against anyone” and there was no cause for apprehensions.
