Cyclone Hits Vanuatu; Leaves Many Homeless

The south pacific archipelago of Vanuatu has been slammed by Cyclone Pam which has caused huge destruction. As per recent reports, about dozen people have already died and thousands are wandering in the streets seeking help. Reportedly, some villages are completely destroyed due to the storm. Baldwin Londsdale, President of Vanuatu has said that he has a “heavy heart” and is seeking international help to aid his people. Cyclone Pam is a category five storm which has also brought winds up to 270km/h (170mph). A UN disaster assessment team is likely to reach Vanuatu soon.
