Cuba, US set to open embassies after more than five decades
July 20 , 2015
In a symbolically significant move, Cuba and the United States will have embassies in each others' capital cities for the first time in over 50 years.
Cuba’s president said this marked the start of a long road to normalization of relations between the two estranged countries.
The US State Department, however, cautioned that the two countries still did not see “eye to eye” on certain issues.
In another sign of US-Cuba relations coming out of the freezer, secretary of state John Kerry is set to hold talks with Cuban foreign minister Bruno Rodriguez.
