Countries failing to meet conservation targets, says UN biodiversity report

  • A new UN report has warned that global efforts to meet conservation targets for wildlife and habitats are failing.

The Global Biodiversity Outlook 4 was published as the world’s nations gather in South Korea to find ways to check loss of biodiversity.

The list of 20 targets agreed to in 2010 are further divided into 56 elements. Of these, only five are on track to meet the 2020 targets; 33 are showing progress at an insufficient rate; 10 are showing no progress; and in five things are getting worse, the report says.
