Corruption charges: Former Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert found guilty
March 30 , 2015
Israel’s former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has been held guilty in a corruption case following a retrial.
He is expected to appeal against the district court’s ruling.
The latest setback comes after he was acquitted in 2012 of several charges including that of accepting large sum of cash stuffed in envelopes from a US businessman before he became PM.
A retrial was ordered after Olmert’s former aide Shula Zaken became a state witness and offered taped recordings purportedly containing conversations linked to the illicit cash transfer.
