Contaminated vaccines kill 34 children in Syria

  • Thirty-four children in rebel-controlled Syria died after being allegedly injected with measles vaccines that were contaminated, according to media reports.

Rebel leaders said people linked to the Assad regime could be responsible for the deaths in north-western Syria’s Idllib province. Angry parents, however, accused local authorities of negligence.

The death toll could rise as several children are in intensive care.

Initial investigations indicated a “limited security breach by vandals” attempting to “spread chaos,” a senior official said.
