Colombia: Search begins for bodies at Medellin mass grave
July 28 , 2015
Forensic specialists have begun a search for bodies at a Colombian urban landfill site. According to estimates, the bodies of up to 300 people may be buried in what is a mass grave.
The disappearances occurred from 2002 when the then Colombian president Alvaro Uribe ordered a military operation against left-wing rebels in Medellin.
Many of the killings are blamed on right-wing militias who took charge after the rebels were forced to leave their stronghold.
