Clashes in Hong Kong as police tries to clear illegal food stalls

Angry protesters clashed with the police in Hong Kong's Mong Kok district. According to media reports, the protesters became violent as the police tried to clear illegal food stalls from the junction of Portland Street and Shan Tung Street set up for Lunar New Year celebrations. Protesters threw bricks and other missiles at the police, who in turn used batons and pepper sprays. The police also fired two warning shots in the air. The police arrested around 23 protesters.
