China's Xi Jinping and North Korea's Kim Jong Un Reaches Consensus on Important Issues
June 22 , 2019
Chinese President Xi Jinping has reportedly reached a consensus on certain important issues with North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un. Reports say both the countries agreed to build friendly relations no matter what the international situation persists. North Korean state media, KCNA, said on Saturday that “Xi has touched the right stone by focusing on economic cooperation to help bring the DPRK in from the cold.” Xi Jinping became the first Chinese President to visit North Korea in 14 years. After paying a 2-day visit, on Friday the Chinese President left the North Korean capital Pyongyang. Xi’s visit to North Korea is significant both politically and diplomatically. China is the most supportive country to DPRK after the UN and US sanctions and the Chinese President’s visit comes just a week before the start of 2019 G20 Osaka summit, where he is likely to meet the US President Donald Trump.
