China's New Confirmed Coronavirus Infections and Deaths Decrease, Italy Reports First Victim from the Disease

  • The national health authority of China has said on Saturday that there has been a fall in the number of new deaths as well as new reported cases of the coronavirus infections. The reported infection cases on Friday in Mainland China were 397, down from 889 cases reported on Thursday. Till Friday-end, the total death toll in Mainland China has reached 76,288. The central bank of China has predicted that its economy is going to witness a limited short-term economic impact due to the Wuhan coronavirus outbreak. However, it also exuded confidence in winning the challenge against this epidemic. Though the incidences of coronavirus infections have started to fall in mainland China, the spread of the infection to other parts of the world increase. The coronavirus outbreak has started worsening in Italy, South Korea, Lebanon, and Iran. The WHO (World Health Organization) has warned that the window of opportunity of containing the international spread of the virus is closing fast. WHO’s director-general Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus has said that the world still has the opportunity to contain the spread of this deadly disease. One of the worst suffers from this coronavirus outbreak outside China is South Korea. Reports say that the confirmed infection cases in South Korea have increased sharply to 142 cases on Saturday, catapulting the total tally to 346. Meanwhile, the Italian Health Minister Roberto Speranza has said on Friday that a 78-year old man has died in the small town of Vo’ Euganeo, becoming the first Italian victim of coronavirus. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the United States has reportedly started preparing medical personnel for coronavirus pandemic.
