China says "No Cause for Panic" over US-China Trade Friction, Calls for Dialogue-based Settlement

  • Wang Yi, top diplomat of Chinese Government, said on Friday in a speech at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) that there’s no cause to panic over the on-going tussle between China and the United States. However, he stressed on the fact that China would not yield on pressure over trade issues. Wang also said that protectionism by any country in a global economy will hurt oneself and “unilateral moves will bring damage to all”. In his speech, Wang Yi went on to say that his country is in favor of rule and consensus based proper settlement of trade frictions through “dialogue and consultation on an equal footing”.
