China: Police kill three 'terrorists' in raid in Shenyang
July 14 , 2015
Police in China’s Shenyang city have shot and killed three men, calling the trio Xinjiang “terrorists.”
The men were reportedly wielding knives.
In recent years, several clashes have been reported from Xinjiang province, which is home to the Muslim Uighur community. Authorities have blamed terrorists for the attacks, but human rights groups have also criticized China’s repressive policies in the province.
The incident in the north-eastern city of Shenyang was, however, among the few clashes that did not take place inside Xinjiang. Police also detained 16 “terrorism suspects” after the raid, reports said.
