China Orders Live-Fire Drills in Taiwan
April 16 , 2018
Xi Jinping, the President of China, has ordered live-fire drills in Taiwan. This came as a response to its clear disapproval of growing ties between Taiwan and the US. The drills are reported to be held on Wednesday in this week. This would be the first drill by the Chinese navy in the Taiwan Strait since September 2015. In the past months, the Trump administration has signed two deals with Taiwan which have not gone down well with Beijing. In addition, between the US and Taiwan, a travel act has also been passed which would allow more official visits between the two.
