China Discusses Nuclear Issues with South Korea

  • As per reports, Chinese President Xi Jinping and South Korea's new liberal President Moon Jae-in discussed nuclear tensions on the Korean peninsula on Thursday.

Xi reportedly told his South Korean counterpart that China believes the nuclear issues be resolved through talks. He further said that China is willing to work hard with all parties for the peace and prosperity of the Korean peninsula.

Moon in his first speech as president on Wednesday said he would negotiate with Washington as well as Beijing to lessen tensions over the deployment of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) anti-missile system in the South. He also said that he would even go to Pyongyang if conditions favour him.
