February 17 , 2016
China is believed to have deployed surface to air-missiles on a disputed island in the Paracel chain in the South China Sea. According to media reports, Satellite images that were taken on February 14 are showing a radar system and two batteries of eight missile launchers on Woody or Yongxing Island. The deployment has been confirmed by Taiwan, which also claims the island. However, Wang Yi, foreign minister of China, has said that the reports have been invented by the Western media.
