Chilean President Assures of Cabinet Change after Millions of People hit the streets of Santiago protesting against the Government

  • Millions of anti-government protesters in Chile thronged Santiago on Friday evening to protest peacefully. The biggest protest till now, more than one million protesters got united to protest against the rising inequality in the country and went on to demand the resignation of the Chilean President Sebastián Piñera. The massive protest has led to the conservative Chilean President to ask his cabinet members to tender resignation. He said: We have all heard the message. We have all changed.” He went on to promise a new cabinet for confronting the new demands of the protesters and “take charge of the new times.” Piñera also said that he might also lift the state of emergency imposed by the government for controlling the protest, which started in response to the rise in subway fares. The main demand of the protesters includes better pay, medical care, housing, schools, pensions, etc.
