Chile teenagers burning case: Five more former soldiers arrested
July 31 , 2015
Five more former soldiers have been arrested in Chile over the 1986 burning of two youngsters who were protesting against the military regime of Augusto Pinochet. Twelve people have been charged so far with setting teenagers Carmen Quintana and Rodrigo Rojas on fire after pouring gasoline over them.
While Rojas succumbed to his injuries a few days later, Quintana survived but has spent decades in treatment in Canada and Chile. A member of the soldiers’ patrol recently changed his testimony, leading to the arrests.
