September 22 , 2013
The Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has announced that the chemical arms account by Syria has been received.
The country is believed to possess about 1,000 tonnes of the same and the entire arsenal is supposed to be dismantled by mid-2014, as per the deal.
The statement by OPCW stated that "The Technical Secretariat is currently reviewing the information received." The UN has recently confirmed the use of sarin in the attack that happened on Aug. 21.
Syrian government has been blamed for the attack and the United States has threatened military action. The White House has recently announced that the threat remained if Syria broke the deal.
