Cheap heroin substitute causes teen's lesions

  • There has been another case related to heroin knockoff Krokodil. A 17-year-old girl was hospitalized after she suffered skin lesions due to injecting herself with the drug for two months.

The unidentified girl in Houston went to a clinic in Mexico but reports suggest that she used the substitute in Houston instead.

A gruesome quote suggests that drug, which is called the "poor man's heroin" rotted the girl's genitals. It's a mixture of dangerous ingredients including gasoline and paint thinner. Users typically die two years after they start to suffer the rotting and it's not clear how the girl is doing since she never returned to the clinic after visiting for the first time.

Several of such cases, including two in Chicago, have been reported in the country.
