Ceasefire in war-torn Yemen goes into effect

A ceasefire in war-torn Yemen went into effect on Sunday. As per media reports, the ceasefire was brokered by the United Nations and went into effect at 11.59 pm on Sunday. The truce was agreed by forces loyal to the government of Yemen, backed by Saudi Arabia, and the Shiite rebel Houthi militia. The truce comes ahead of planned peace talks to be held on April 18 in Kuwait.
