July 13 , 2013
The train that was taking passengers from Paris to Limoges crashed into a station killing at least 6 people and injuring dozens out of which nine are in critical condition.
This is the deadliest tragedy that's happened to the country in a while and the French President called it a "catastrophe". His plan was to visit the capital but he immediately visited the site of the tragedy after it happened canceling all other plans.
Reports said that some children had been separated from their parents and people were heard screaming and asking for help. One of the passengers said that the train was not supposed to stop at Bretigny-sur-Orge and was going at normal speed before the crash.
The President promised a thorough investigation, according to Reuters.
