Catalan Referendum: Carles Puigdemont asks for international help

Following the Catalan Referendum, Carles Puigdemont, the President of Catalonia, has asked for international aid to sort out the region's independence dispute with Spain. The referendum witnessed a police crackdown resulting in injuries to more than 900 people. Meanwhile, Puigdemont has said that Europe cannot ignore the issue. The European Commission has termed the referendum as an internal Spanish matter and called upon both sides to move from confrontation to dialogue.
