Canada hails 'hero' who shot gunman
October 24 , 2014
Kevin Vickers, the House of Commons sergeant-at-arms who shot and killed a gunman inside Canada’s Parliament, has been hailed as a hero.
Parliamentarians gave Vickers, who has earlier served 28 years in the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, a standing ovation as he led a ceremonial line signalling the beginning of a new session.
In a written statement, he later said he had the support of a “remarkable security team” which showed “professionalism and courage” during the shooting incident.
