Cameroon abductions: Some captives held by Boko Haram freed
January 20 , 2015
At least 24 captives from among some 80 people in Cameroon taken hostage by the Nigerian militant group Boko Haram have been freed, media reports said.
While some of the captives managed to escape, others were freed when Cameroonian forces “pursued the attackers,” according to officials.
Many of those kidnapped by the Islamist group in the cross-border raid over the weekend are believed to be women and children. The militants also burned several homes in Maki and Mada villages, which were the targets of the attacks.
