Cairo court acquits 26 men accused of debauchery
January 13 , 2015
Twenty-six men who were accused of debauchery have been let off by a court in Egypt on Monday, January 12, according to media reports.
The men had been taken from a bathhouse half-naked in Cairo and were forced into police vehicles - an event which was controversially filmed and broadcast by a television channel.
Mona Iraqi, a filmmaker, said she had worked with the police to coordinate the arrests.
Rights groups say the incident was part of a larger crackdown on gay people in the country.
