Bus collides with train in Canada
September 19 , 2013
There was a collision between a Via Rail passenger train and a double-decker transit bus in Ottawa today. The officials have confirmed six fatalities and at least 10 injured passengers.
Witnesses mentioned that the front end of the bus was ripped off as a result of the collision. One of them said it looked like the bus drove through a lowered crossing barrier and "Boom! It went into the train like that. He just didn't stop."
The crash happened at a level crossing in the rural west end of Ottawa surrounded by corn fields.
Canadian Prime Minister Stephen Harper expressed his grief over the collision, which occurred only months after 50 people died in a runaway freight train cash and explosion in Quebec.
He tweeted saying. "our thoughts and prayers are (with) the families of those involved."
