Burma: Aung San Suu Kyi holds talks with president, military leaders
April 11 , 2015
Burma’s opposition leader Aung San Suu Kyi has held talks with the country’s military leaders and president Thein Sein in what is being seen as a positive development amid a continuing conflict with minority ethnic groups.
Though the government has carried out reforms in the past few years after decades of military rule, the military’s clout is undiminished.
Aung San Suu Kyi, a Nobel laureate, has slammed the current “hardline regime” and indicated that boycotting the November polls was on the cards if the pro-military constitution remains unaltered.
