Buddha may have achieved enlightenment 200 years earlier

A team of archaeologists said Buddha's birthday may be wrong by 200 years.
Experts dug under the temple considered to be his birthplace and found a wooden shrine, dating back to the 6th century BC. The issue is that Buddha is usually dated to the 4th century BC instead.
The new discovery "sheds light on a very very long debate" over Buddhism's history, as per archaeologist Robin Coningham. The brick temple containing the recently discovered shrine is housed inside a temple at Lumbini, which is a famous tourist attraction in Nepal.
"This is one of those rare occasions when belief, traditions, archaeology and science actually come together," Coningham said.
