British references in CIA torture report removed

  • References to UK’s intelligence agencies from the US Senate report on the CIA’s interrogation methods were deleted following requests from the British agencies.

A spokesperson for prime minister David Cameron admitted that the deletions were made before its publication. The spokesperson said any redactions sought “would have been on national security grounds.”

Labour MP Diane Abbott has said that to begin with “we need to know what was removed” from the report.
