Britain finally closes embassy in Libya

  • With the fighting between militias in Libya intensifying, Britain has finally closed its embassy in capital Tripoli and evacuated all staff.

Michael Aron, the British ambassador to Libya, said in a Twitter message that the UK had decided to “temporarily suspend Embassy operations in Libya”.

The US, Germany, France and Japan have already closed their embassies. Last weekend, vehicles carrying non-essential diplomats from Britain out of Libya were fired upon.
