Brazil Records New Record High Fatalities from COVID-19

Brazil's health ministry announced on Thursday that the country reported a record high fatalities from COVID-19 within 24 hours with 1,188 new deaths bringing the country's total to 20,047 deaths. This new spike in cases tops the previous record set on Tuesday. On the matter of skyrocketing numbers, US President Donald Trump said that he was "mulling a travel ban" on Brazil, "We are considering it," he confirmed. Further, Brazil's lower house of Congress has approved a proposed law to make use of personal protection masks in public spaces mandatory. The law once imposed, would require people to wear any form of face-covering in areas that are accessible to the public, which includes public transportation, sidewalks and parks. Also, individuals not wearing masks would be fined up to $52.
