Brazil cops ask tourists not to scream in case of robbery
May 14 , 2014
Brazil is struggling with increasing number of muggings and police have advised tourists not to scream in case someone is attempting to rob them. People will risk their lives if they attract attention by reacting or arguing.
"Tourists come mainly from Europe and the United States, where they do not see this crime very often," an official responsible for security during World Cup said.
The Washington Post notes that muggings have increased by 44 percent in Rip state this year and the nation's police may go on strike during World Cup over their working conditions and pay.
