Border clash: Eight Iranian guards killed in Sistan Baluchistan

  • Unidentified gunmen shot and killed eight Iranian guards near the country’s troubled border with Pakistan, according to a report in Iran’s media.

    The attack reportedly occurred in Sistan Baluchistan. Four of those shot were conscripts.

    This area has seen clashes between Iran’s security forces and groups said to have links with al-Qaida, in the past. The latest incident comes a day after Iranian forces killed three members of a militant group and arrested several others.
