Boko Haram militants killed dozens in northeast Nigeria

  • Boko Haram  militants armed with grenades, guns, and explosives targeted Damboa town in northeast Nigeria, killing more than 65 people and forcing thousands of residents to flee.

    Sheriff Muhammad, an official of the Damboa local authority, said the gunmen pursued civilians, who fled to nearby villages and killed at least 20 people there.

    In April, Boko Haram abducted more than 270 schoolgirls. The girls are still in the captivity of the militants.
