Boko Haram capture army base in Nigeria, triggering exodus

  • Nigerian militant group Boko Haram  has seized a military camp in a village in the north-east, triggering a mass exodus from the area.

    This is the second time in one week that the Islamists have captured an army base, raising doubts over the government’s strategy to combat the group.

    An unknown number of civilians and soldiers have reportedly been killed in the brazen militant attack. Thousands of civilians have fled to the Borno state capital.
