Beijing building runway in disputed South China Sea island

China is pushing ahead with constructing an airstrip on a South China Sea reef, a report has said.
Satellite images published by Jane’s Defence Weekly show that work being carried out on reclaimed land on a reef in the disputed Spratly Islands.
The landmass is capable of housing a 3,000-meter long runway, according to the report.
Land reclamation work by China in the South China Sea has drawn criticism from countries such as Philippines and Vietnam.
