December 30 , 2018
Bangladesh has started voting in its general election to elect their new Prime Minister. Incumbent Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is seeking her 4th term as PM. Reports say security forces have been put in high alert. With over 100 million people eligible to vote this general election, 600,000 security force personnel have been deployed across Bangladesh. As more than a dozen people have reportedly died due to electoral violence, security forces have been put into high alert. High-speed internet has been shut down until the polling is over to avoid rumor mongering through social media and others. At press time, at least 2 people were reportedly killed during clashes between the political parties.
