June 16 , 2016
A Bahrain court has suspended al-Wefaq, the main Shiite opposition party, and has also frozen its accounts. According to media reports, the Ministry of Justice has accused the group of creating a new generation that carries a spirit of hatred, promotes sectarian tension and also is securing legal cover for activities associated with terrorism and extremism. Al-Wefaq was suspended just a day after the arrest of Nabeel Rajab, prominent rights activist.
